About this spot

From this wide grassy hilltop in West Fairmount Park, the whole Philadelphia skyline rises above the trees about four miles to the southeast. The sun sets behind you, so this is a golden hour spot: the towers of Center City catch the last warm light, then the city lights come on across the park. There is free parking in a lot by the field and some space along the road, and the lawn is big enough for blankets and picnics. It is a favourite of locals for evenings out, and DJ Jazzy Jeff has called it his favourite place in the city. Clear evenings give the sharpest view.
