About this spot
Named after the old concrete steps that stand alone on the sand, Steps Beach faces west across the Mona Passage, so the sun sets straight into the sea. It lies in the Tres Palmas Marine Reserve, and evenings here are quiet, with surfers out at the Tres Palmas break. There are no restrooms or other facilities on the beach, so bring a blanket and water. Parking is along the road, with few spaces at busy times, and the path down to the sand is short. On calm days the reef is good for snorkelling, and you can look for sea glass along the shore.
