Crash Boat Beach

About this spot
On Puerto Rico's northwest coast, Crash Boat faces west over open water, so the sun drops straight into the sea, with the old concrete pier and its pilings in the foreground. The pier was built for military rescue boats, which gave the beach its name. The water is clear and calm on most days, and people swim, snorkel and jump from the pier. Food kiosks and bars by the beach serve drinks and fried snacks into the evening. Parking is in a municipal lot for around $9, and spaces near the pier fill up on weekends, so come early. The restrooms are often closed. Don't park on yellow lines.
