Playa El Combate

About this spot

On Puerto Rico's southwest coast, this long beach of fine sand faces west over calm water, so the sun sets straight into the sea. It is one of the most loved sunset beaches on the island, and on weekends locals stay into the evening. Restaurants and bars line the road behind the beach, serving seafood and drinks, and there are no public restrooms, so plan to use one of them. Parking is along the nearby streets and fills up in the afternoon on weekends. The Cabo Rojo salt flats and lighthouse are a short drive south.
