Templo de Debod

About this spot
This ancient Egyptian temple, a gift from Egypt to Spain, stands on a hill above Parque del Oeste and is Madrid's best-known sunset spot. It faces east to west, and from the gardens behind it the sun goes down over Casa de Campo, with the Almudena Cathedral in view. The gardens are free. Entry to the temple interior is free too, with booking recommended; it closes at 19:00 in summer and 20:00 the rest of the year, and on Mondays. Clear evenings draw big crowds, so come early. Plaza de España and Ventura Rodríguez metro stations are a short walk away.
