Walking from the Old Town side, Prague Castle and the Malá Strana rooftops sit straight ahead, and in May and early August the sun sets almost behind the castle. In midsummer it goes down to the right of it, and in winter to the left over Malá Strana and Petřín Hill. The bridge is pedestrian only and free to walk. It is very busy, so arrive 15 to 20 minutes before sunset and stand near the Old Town end. For a view along the whole bridge, climb the Old Town Bridge Tower, around 250 CZK and 138 steps. It is open at sunset only from about late August to September and late October to mid March.
