About this spot
The lighthouse sits on a sandy point at the western tip of Discovery Park, Seattle's largest park, with open water on three sides. The sun sets over Puget Sound toward the Olympic Mountains, and it is quieter than the city's main beaches. Getting there takes a walk of about 1.5 miles each way from the main parking lots, on trails that drop steeply to the beach. Parking at beach level is restricted, mostly to ADA placard holders. The trails are mostly unlit, so bring a headlamp for the walk back. The park stays open well after sunset.
