Oakland California Temple Grounds
🏛️ Landmark⛰️ Hill/Mountain
Direct Sunset View
About this spot
The white temple stands on a hill above Oakland, and its landscaped grounds look west over the whole bay to San Francisco and the Golden Gate Bridge. Around the spring and autumn equinoxes the sun goes down behind the Golden Gate, over Marin in summer and over the city in winter. The grounds and visitors' center are free and open to the public, though the temple itself is not. The grounds close around 8:30pm, which is around or before sunset in June and July. Parking is free.
