Judge John Sutter Regional Shoreline Observation Pier

About this spot
This 600-foot pier stands on the foundations of the old Bay Bridge, beside the new eastern span. It runs out into the bay toward Yerba Buena Island and the San Francisco skyline. In winter the sun goes down over the city and the islands, in summer farther north over Marin. From the parking lot on Burma Road, a flat, paved half-mile path leads to the pier. There are restrooms at the lot and by the pier, and benches and picnic tables on it. The park lists vehicle gate hours of 7am to 5pm, so check whether the lot is open at sunset before you go.
