Big C (Charter Hill)

About this spot

The big concrete C on Charter Hill overlooks the UC Berkeley campus, the Campanile and Memorial Stadium, with the bay, the Bay Bridge and the Golden Gate Bridge beyond, where the sun goes down. A picnic table near the top is a favourite place to wait for it, and on concert nights you can hear the Greek Theatre below. The climb is short but steep, starting from the fire trail behind the Greek Theatre. The campus Foothill parking lot nearby is paid by the hour. The trail has no lights, so bring a headlamp for the way down.
