About this spot

From the top of this headland you look out over the Pacific, Santa Monica Bay and the Malibu coast, with Catalina Island on clear days. Winter is best, when the sun sets straight into the open ocean; in summer it drops toward the coastline to the west. A boardwalk below the summit leads to a viewing platform that is more sheltered on windy evenings. Parking closes at sunset. The free two-hour spaces at the top, off Cliffside Drive, are very limited, so arrive early and don't park in the residential streets. There are no restrooms on the headland. Dogs are not allowed.
