Ribeira das Naus is a riverside promenade with broad stone steps running down into the Tagus between Praça do Comércio and Cais do Sodré. In autumn and early winter the sun sets behind the 25 de Abril Bridge, straight down the river. A kiosk with a terrace and lounge chairs serves drinks, and the lawns and steps fill up on warm evenings. Arrive early for a chair facing the bridge. Swimming is not allowed, though people sunbathe on the steps. Walk along the river from Cais do Sodré or from Cais das Colunas in Praça do Comércio.
