Cabo da Roca
🏛️ Landmark
Direct Sunset View
About this spot
Cabo da Roca is the westernmost point of mainland Europe, a clifftop cape around 150 metres above the Atlantic with an open sea horizon for the sunset. A free car park sits by the lighthouse and tourist office, but it fills up before sunset, especially in summer and at weekends. Toilets are in the tourist office during its opening hours, and there is little else on site. The lighthouse is not open to visitors. Carris Metropolitana line 1624 runs between Sintra and Cascais via the cape, but check the timetable for the last bus back before you go. Expect strong wind and bring a warm layer.
