The riverfront beside Torre de Belém faces the wide mouth of the Tagus, and the 16th-century tower makes a classic silhouette at dusk. In late autumn and winter the sun sets downriver toward the Atlantic; in summer it sets behind land, but the tower and the water still catch the golden light. You watch from outside: the lawns and promenade beside the tower stay open after dark, and evenings are calmer than the daytime crowds.
