While Ithaca’s geography means you won’t see the sun setting directly into the sea, I found what I think is the most beautiful sunset spot on the island. Perched high above Ithaca, Kathara Monastery offers a sunset from two beautiful perspectives. From one side, you can watch the sun slowly disappear behind the hills, while the other side, by the monastery’s tower, opens up to a stunning golden-hour view over Ithaca and the surrounding landscape. The drive up is part of the experience too, winding through beautiful mountain scenery as you climb higher above the island. 🌅
